AASA - Providing leadership and advocacy for architectural education in Australasia

University of Canberra

Faculty of Arts and Design

The Master of Architecture provides a professionally accredited, postgraduate level qualification for candidates whose first degree is the Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of Canberra or equivalent.

The two year graduate degree promotes the processes of urbanization as a laboratory for architectural research, focused on contemporary issues informing urban architecture. History/theory and design studios comprise a two track educational structure through which urban issues are analysed; site and program are activated; the socio-cultural, the environmental, and the technological are investigated towards the creation of sustainable urban forms.

Students engage in a range of design electives that provide special opportunity for self-determined development including collaborative interdisciplinary studios, professional placements associated with design or research projects, overseas study programs, history and theory and architecture master classes. Students are encouraged to take advantage of research opportunities.
